London > Salisbury > Bath (England)

Day 4 was primarily a travel day. After packing up our things and leaving the hotel, James and I enjoyed some authentic Bombay cuisine and started our journey towards Bath. After spending some time on the “Tube”, we boarded our first train of the trip. Apparently the train car we chose was the one without AC (no wonder there were so many seats available), so we spent the next two hours sweating and miserable alongside our equally sweaty and miserable cohorts.

When we finally arrived in Salisbury, James and I waited eagerly for the air conditioned bus to pick us up from the station and head towards Stonehenge. After some time waiting in the heat, we were notified that the bus (which was the last one of the day) had been cancelled. Fortunately, the couple next to us were in the same predicament, so we all split a taxi to Stonehenge. Better yet, the taxi driver let us leave our backpacks in his car while we toured the site (thank you, Ali!), saving our backs and dwindling spirits. We toured the magnificent site with our new friends, enduring about a 5 minute downpour of rain before the beautiful, sunshiney day represented itself. About an hour later, we took the taxi back to the railway station, where we were notified our train to Bath had been cancelled and we’d have to wait another hour and a half for the next one. Ugh! When we finally made it to Bath, it was about 8:30pm and the sun was still shining. We grabbed some vegan pizza and remembered around 9:30pm that the latest checkin for our B&B was 10pm (oops).

Fortunately, there was a taxi outside which we were able to hop on and about 10 minutes later we were checked into our room (phew). After a shower and our first round of sink washing laundry, J and I called it a night.
