Paris, France > Zurich, Switzerland
Au revoir, Paris! What a lovely city. We probably could’ve spent the rest of the trip there, but still have so much more of the world to see. After one final croissant, we boarded the train towards Switzerland and began our next adventure. Still entranced by the palace of Versailles and story of Marie Antoinette, we were giddy to watch the 2006 movie created about her (spoiler alert.. it sucked), which we planned to watch on the train. After 2 hours of loading, freezing, and relogging in, we got through a whopping 20 minutes of the movie (there must have been a glitch with Amazon video as it was prime day!). We REALLY tried to make that happen, but eventually had to throw in the towel.
When we arrived in Switzerland, it was gloomy and we were initially underwhelmed. After the connecting train ride to the cute coastal town of Rapperswil-Jona (our landing spot for the next five nights) bordering Lake Zurich, we walked around and grabbed dinner at a local joint. We knew the food would be expensive but… holy cow. We ordered two small bowls of pasta (the cheapest thing on the menu) and ended up spending over $50. We will definitely be visiting the grocery store tomorrow and home cook meals moving forward (we made sure to get a spot with a kitchenette for this reason).
By the end of the day, this cute little town was already growing in us.
