Cinque Terre, Italy

This morning I ordered my first successful cup of iced coffee since arriving in La Spezia! Apparently iced coffee isn’t a thing here, despite the 80+ degree weather, so coffee shops are clueless when it comes to the idea of cold coffee. Previous attempts at ordering iced coffee had resulted in coffee ice cream on one occasion and two cups of milk with a single shot of espresso on another. After some googling, I learned the key was to order an Americana fridda (cold black coffee) and then add my own cream and sugar, so as not to confuse the barista further. After a hearty breakfast and kick of caffeine, we readied ourselves to explore the towns of Cinque Terre, which our friend Brad has been raving about since Amsterdam.

He wasn’t kidding! Cinque Terre was beautiful. Of the five towns, we managed to visit Vernazza, Monterosso, and Manarola. It was definitely the type of beach vibes we initially thought we’d get in La Spezia. The beaches were beautiful and the towns and winding roads were so charming. They all looked pretty darn similar if you ask me, but beautiful all the same.
