Pisa, Italy

After sleeping in until late morning, James woke me up with a cup of coffee and croissant from a nearby bakery (he is my absolute favorite). From there we began our trek to Pisa.

2+ hours and a bus ride in the opposite direction later, we arrived at the famous leaning tower. We picked up four cocktails to-go at a nearby bar and double fisted our way the two blocks to the tower. We found a place in the shade and marveled at the tower until the sun began to set and our stomachs started rumbling. We are both hanger-prone, so grabbed a falafel wrap (it was AWESOME) before starting our journey home.

The dang public transportation system, specifically with buses, is absolutely ridiculous. The posted schedules don’t have half the destinations we’re looking for, even though we know it’s a stop the bus makes, and there’s little to no direction as to which bus heads that way. Even the online schedules don’t match the bus number, route, or time scheduled posted. I’m sure we’re missing something, but we’re both pretty good problem solvers and haven’t managed to crack the Italian code of public transportation. So basically it’s been a free for all, mostly relying on the advice of various bus drivers on where the heck their buses are going.

We got back to our room around 10pm, made dinner, watched about half an hour of Ted Lasso (courtesy of James), and called it a night.
