We made a pit stop in Zagreb on our way from Split to Budapest. It was a perfect way to break up the journey. We stayed on the north end of Ul. Ivana Tkalčića street in an area called Upper Town which felt like the heart of the city. This area gave serious vibes of Little Italy in downtown San Diego.

The street was lined with outdoor seating for bars, cafes, and restaurants. Small crowds of locals and tourists hoarded around. It was sunny and the street was mostly closed off for foot traffic.

Differentiating the two, Upper Town Zagreb halted at 5 story buildings and most of the neighborhood stood under 3. Plenty of trees and small gardens livened the area and due to the shorter buildings, plenty of natural light flooded the street.

We enjoyed walking around and made the 10 minute walk to the town square on more than one occasion. We also found an awesome brunch spot that played familiar pop music ranging from Bob Marley, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly, the Eagles, and R. Kelly.
