I’m not sure if we did Monaco perfectly or horribly. We seemed to be one of the few patrons getting off on the train into the city. There was a man playing a piano in the train station that made our exit so epic. We walked down a dramatic stone staircase into this back door entrance to the city and it completed our experience.

I was so excited to be there. We frickin walked straight onto the racetrack, Route de la Piscine. I knew exactly where we were but had no idea about where we were supposed to be.

We needed food, bad. So of course, we went to the Monaco Brewery. That was our downfall. Not that we knew it, but it just happened. We could see some of the largest yachts of our life, constantly being passed by Ferraris, rolls Royce’s, Lamborghinis, and any other car you could imagine. But we neglected to order food!

Instead  we met this intriguing couple. They were about 20 years our senior and sat next to us towards the water. At first we kept to our own but then the conversation flourished. We were enriched with what the life is like living in Monaco, they had done it for 10 plus years. Plus they ordered drinks for us. Before you know it, we were well passed our prime. We were trashed. This blessed couple had invited us over for a cocktail evening the next day, the Monaco Grand Prix the following May, yet we could barely stand up straight. We should have never ordered that first beer.

We stumbled out of this like it was nobody’s business. We got to the train station, had to wait 20 minutes and that was the end of our luck. Sav let it loose. Most awkward train car experience of my life.

We waited an hour in the Cannes train station before I had to pick up Sav and carry her downtown so we could catch an uber. We got a ride made it home safely. But let’s not forget, Sav was offered a $160K ring if we stayed in touch with these friends. Consequences, expectations, of course? Worth it? Your call?
