So after our escapade of having to find the right Airbnb, we sunk into our beautiful abode and soaked up the French Riviera's sun like it was the last thing on earth.
In the morning we walked the few blocks to the beach aiming to find a single restaurant in Cannes with an entre under $25, and we found it. Right on the boardwalk there was a lineup of little shacks, sandwich shops, and ice cream shops. In dire need of some reasonably priced food we went to one of these boardwalk sandwich shops, and to to our surprise, it was fantastic.

I got a two-hamburger-patty French roll sandwich and Sav got an amazing tasting vegan wrap. We walked around the beach neighborhood near the Martinez and passed by a public tennis and racquet club with the cutest guard dog you’ve ever seen. This loving clumsy black lab fumbled right up to Savanna and started licking her legs before we could even find a person working at the front desk. They were so excited to have out of town company wanting to play at their courts (not knowing how terrible we are) they basically begged us to play.
On the way home, we stopped for sponges, paper towels, snacks, and mixed drinks to get us through the next beach day. It was so funky because there was clearly two separate markets right next door to each other and the owners were outside having a cigarette together when we walked up. Maybe one worked for the other or maybe they were best friends but they seemed to carry 90% of the same items, except beer and cleaning supplies???
The next day was a day for the books. We made a mission to get down to the beach at a reasonable time with large swing-top glass bottle full of mixed drinks. We weren’t going to pay for any amount of beach side drink service no matter how good it looked.
Our friends at the competing Russian markets had umbrellas for some unreasonably priced amount so we opted to pay for a beach cabana 20 ft back from the waves. Definitely worth it. It ended up costing half the price of the umbrellas and chairs we would’ve bought plus we weren’t guilted into lugging them around for the rest of the trip. We sat all day on the warm sand in Cannes, dipping our toes in the water and drinking our homemade mixed drinks having the time of our lives. Bliss as it could ever be.
P.S. I’m pretty sure we saw Jeff Bezos and his new Fiancé. I noticed this multi-million dollar private water taxi pulling up to the Martinez Hotel dock. It was one of those small boats that the mega rich take out to their mega yachts. I
I watched carefully to see who was getting on board. It was the 60 year old looking bald white man and his fit / attractive looking partner. The bald man immediately took off his shirt while getting on the small boat and it reminded me of the paparazzi images of Jeff Bezos on his yacht. Interestingly enough, Jeff Bezos's fiancé is from Cannes, and the two were spotted down the coast earlier that week.
